Should We Sell?

The decision to sell a farm can be a tough and emotional one. Often farmland has several owners. Usually, split ownership is among different family members and even different generations of family members.

We have seen a growing trend of clients who have decided to sell their farmland. The owners have different goals and needs in life, and they have essentially decided that it is easier to split money than dirt. This is not surprising, considering that 60 percent of the farmland in Iowa is owned by people 65 years of age or older, and 35 percent of the land is owned by people 75 years of age or older.

At Mid Iowa Real Estate, Auctions, & Appraisals, we understand the complexities of selling a farm when multiple owners are involved: we work with all parties to make sure everyone is on the same page and that business still gets done efficiently. We have consulted many clients who have had questions about how to sell a farm when different parties are involved and even when there are different opinions among the group. If you have similar questions about marketing your farm, reach out to Mid Iowa Real Estate, Auctions, & Appraisals today.

Keep checking our website, www.TheDirtDealer.com, for updated land offerings and results. We currently have a machinery auction south of Iowa Falls on March 21st, including some nice pieces.
