It's been some time since I last wrote a blog for Mid Iowa Real Estate, Auctions & Appraisals (Mid Iowa). We've been busy over the past two years and are proud of several significant achievements.

Jeff has been involved in the real estate industry since 1981 and serves as the real estate broker for Mid Iowa. He is also our Certified General Real Property Appraiser, a title he has held since 1992. The auction business began in 1984 and has expanded over the years to conduct auctions for households, machinery, and land. Currently, our focus is on land auctions.

By the close of 2023, we were positioned 5th among 25 companies in Iowa, based on Jim Rothermich's data from Iowa Appraisal Research for Auction Sales and Acre Volume. While most other companies in the report employed over 20 salespeople, Mid Iowa had just four. In 2023, Mid Iowa sold more than 70 farms, and in 2024, it sold over 50 farms. Concurrently, Mid Iowa Real Estate, Auction & Appraisals conducted over 100 appraisals annually.

Dara Smith is responsible for managing our office administration, while Becky Parrish is in charge of the online bidding program and the Mid Iowa website. Jeffrey Obrecht, Jason Etnyre, and Kellen Suntken are auctioneers and salespeople at Mid Iowa, with a combined experience of over 65 years in the auction industry. Archie Kuntz works as the Mid Iowa salesperson in the Brooklyn, Iowa area, while Andrew Benning, our latest addition, is joining as a salesperson in the Hampton-Geneva area.

Our business is founded on honesty, professionalism, and integrity. In real estate sales, sellers typically have one chance to collaborate with a realtor to sell their property. These properties often hold years of family memories and emotions. We strive to make this process as smooth as possible for them. Conversely, buyers might have multiple opportunities to purchase real estate from Mid Iowa, either through auctions or listings.
